Yeongdeungpo-gu Launches New Coronavirus Prevention Campaign with Chinese Residents
Campaign Promoting Infection Prevention Guidelines in Korean, Chinese, and English with Chinese-Korean Community Group... Visiting Disinfection Service Targeting Infection-Vulnerable Places Such as Mahjong Rooms and Small Stores
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has launched a campaign to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (hereafter referred to as the novel coronavirus) together with the Chinese diaspora.
The district is focusing on publicity and prevention activities tailored to its characteristic as the area with the highest number of registered foreigners (foreigners who have stayed in Korea for more than 90 days and have registered their residence) among Seoul’s autonomous districts.
Accordingly, Chinese diaspora organizations such as the ‘National Association of Precious Overseas Koreans’ have also participated in the campaign since the 1st, circulating around Daerim-dong, an area densely populated by foreigners, under the slogan “Prevent the novel coronavirus, let’s unite and respond together!” to promote awareness and prevention activities targeting district residents.
This campaign is notable for being carried out through the voluntary participation of members and will continue until the novel coronavirus situation subsides.
Members participating in the campaign distribute notices on novel coronavirus prevention guidelines written in Korean, Chinese, and English around Daerim Central Market and Dasarang Park, sharing response measures.
The district supports the campaign by providing bilingual leaflets (9,500 copies in Chinese, 5,000 copies in English, and 14,500 copies in Korean) and hygiene supplies such as hand sanitizers, masks, and thermometers to facilitate smooth promotional activities.
In addition to prevention guidelines, members also provide information on designated medical institutions for reporting cases and carry thermometers and hand sanitizers to measure temperatures on site.
Starting from the 8th, disinfection services will also be conducted at vulnerable locations such as mahjong rooms and small stores, alongside quarantine activities.
Earlier, the district sent out a letter containing behavioral guidelines and precautions for preventing the novel coronavirus to 58,220 registered foreigners in the area on January 31, and on February 2, sent text messages with prevention guidelines and precautions in four languages to registered foreigners.
