Impact of Strike... Renault Samsung's Domestic Sales Down 16.8%, Exports Down 77.3% in January
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Renault Samsung Motors announced on the 3rd that it sold 4,303 units in the domestic market in January this year, a 16.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. During this period, exports decreased by 77.3% compared to the same period last year to 1,930 units, achieving a total monthly sales volume of 6,233 units. This is attributed to the impact of strikes, including partial workplace closures last month.
In the domestic market, the QM6 was the best-selling model in January, with 3,540 units sold, a 24.4% increase compared to the same period last year. In particular, the LPe model, the only LPG SUV in Korea, sold 2,589 units, accounting for 73.1% of total QM6 sales in January.
Following that, the QM6 GDe sold 867 units, trailing the LPe model, while the dCi model had a total of 84 units delivered.
The SM6 sold 669 units. The SM6 LPe model also led January sales, with 379 units sold, accounting for more than half (56.7%) of total SM6 sales. The Renault Master Bus sold 90 units during January.
Renault Samsung Motors’ exports in January totaled 1,930 units, including 1,230 Nissan Rogue units for North American export, 525 QM6 units, and 175 Twizy units. Renault Samsung Motors’ export volume in January decreased by 77.3% compared to the same period last year.
