Samsung Electronics Provides Medical Supplies and 5.1 Billion KRW Support to China for 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Samsung Electronics is providing medical supplies and 30 million yuan (approximately 5.1285 billion KRW) to China, where the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) is spreading.
On the afternoon of the 31st, Samsung Electronics announced, "We will support 30 million yuan to China, which has been affected by Wuhan pneumonia, including 1 million bacterial-blocking masks and 10,000 protective suits." The donated funds and medical supplies will be delivered to the Red Cross Society of China through Samsung China.
Earlier on the same day, Samsung Electronics announced that it would donate 1 million Australian dollars (approximately 800 million KRW) to the Australian community affected by large wildfires. The donation provided by Samsung Electronics will be delivered to the New South Wales fire department and used for recovery of wildfire-affected areas and support for disaster victims.
Samsung Electronics has supported disaster recovery by providing cash donations, home appliances, relief supplies, and free home appliance services when large-scale natural disasters occur domestically and internationally.

Previously, Samsung supported $500,000 for the 2015 Nepal earthquake recovery, 20 million pesos (approximately 1.2 billion KRW) for the 2017 Mexico earthquake, and $600,000 for the November 2018 earthquake in Indonesia.
