Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol: "Overcoming Difficulties and Upholding Law and Principles Is the Mission of Prosecutors"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol emphasized at the prosecutor transfer ceremony that "there is bound to be resistance in upholding the law and principles," adding, "It is the mission of prosecutors to overcome difficulties while maintaining principles."
On the morning of the 31st, at the prosecutor transfer ceremony held in the main conference room of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, Prosecutor General Yoon said, "The work of a prosecutor is always difficult." At the ceremony, he addressed mid-level prosecutors who were being reassigned to different workplaces and positions, stating, "No matter the position or location, prosecutors operate based on the principle of prosecutorial unity," and "Changing your desk is merely a physical change; the fundamental responsibilities do not change."
He continued, "I myself have moved through many personnel transfers, going to provinces and back to Seoul, but for every prosecutor, being assigned to a new post is a challenge," advising, "Through facing challenges, prosecutors develop their capabilities and insight, as well as their skills and leadership."
Prosecutor General Yoon was previously assigned to posts considered 'remote' such as Daegu High Prosecutors' Office and Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office after exposing external pressure on the National Intelligence Service's political interference investigation during the Park Geun-hye administration.
