Decrease in Light Industry Production in Gwangju Region Last December... Increase in Jeonnam
Honam Regional Statistics Office Announces 'Industrial Activity Trends'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] In December of last year, the manufacturing production in Gwangju Metropolitan City decreased by 5.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, but increased by 2.3% compared to the previous month. Manufacturing production in the Jeonnam region increased by 4.5% year-on-year and 0.6% month-on-month, respectively.
According to the "December 2019 Industrial Activity Trends in Gwangju and Jeonnam" announced by the Honam Regional Statistics Office on the 31st, manufacturing shipments in the Gwangju area decreased by 0.9% year-on-year but increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month. Inventory increased by 28.4% year-on-year and decreased by 0.7% month-on-month.
In the Jeonnam region, manufacturing shipments increased by 8% year-on-year but decreased by 1.4% compared to the previous month. Inventory decreased by 6.1% year-on-year and 7.3% month-on-month, respectively.
Sales at large retail stores in the Gwangju area decreased by 5% year-on-year, with department stores down 5.3% and large marts down 4.8%, respectively.
In the Jeonnam region, sales decreased by 2.4% year-on-year.
Construction orders in Gwangju increased by 94.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. By client, public sector orders increased by 7%, and private sector orders increased by 120.5%. By type of work, building construction increased by 81.6%, and civil engineering increased by 332.4%.
Construction orders in the Jeonnam region decreased by 2.4% year-on-year. By client, public sector orders decreased by 3.2%, while private sector orders increased by 30.6%. By type of work, building construction increased by 233%, while civil engineering decreased by 39.3%.
