Japanese Sharp Also Joins the Challenge, OLED TV Market Expected to Grow Larger
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Japanese electronics company Sharp is expected to enter the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV market within this year.
According to industry sources on the 27th, Sharp plans to release OLED TVs using LG Display panels in the Japanese market within the year.
The price range is expected to be at least 300,000 yen (approximately 3.19 million KRW), with plans to launch in the first half of the year.
With Sharp's entry into the OLED TV market, the number of manufacturers announcing OLED TV releases this year has increased to three, following the US company Vizio and China's Xiaomi.
If these companies launch their products, the total number of TV manufacturers joining the OLED TV camp will be 18, including LG Electronics, Europe's Philips, and Japan's Sony.
