Wuhan Mayor: "Over 5 Million People Have Left Wuhan"

There are also predictions that the number of confirmed cases in Wuhan will increase by about 1,000 more.
According to local Chinese media on the 26th, Zhou Xianwang, the mayor of Wuhan, stated at a press conference that evening, "Due to the Lunar New Year and the epidemic situation, about 5 million people have left Wuhan, and currently 9 million remain."
Mayor Zhou also mentioned that considering the current treatment and observation situation, the number of confirmed cases could surge.
Mayor Zhou explained, "As of early this morning, there are 618 confirmed cases in Wuhan, 40 patients have been discharged, and 45 have died. Among the 533 patients currently receiving treatment in hospitals, 87 are in critical condition and 53 are serious."

He added, "Currently, 2,209 suspected 'Wuhan pneumonia' patients are being treated in hospitals, and 643 are classified as observation subjects due to fever symptoms. About 45% of these may be confirmed cases, so considering the current treatment situation, there is a possibility that the number of confirmed cases will increase by about 1,000 more."
