Administration of HIV Treatment to 'Wuhan Pneumonia' Patients in China
No Treatment Yet
Vaccine Research Also Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] China is testing HIV treatment drugs to treat the novel coronavirus (Wuhan pneumonia).
On the 26th, according to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP), Beijing health authorities announced that they are currently administering the antiretroviral drugs Lopinavir and Ritonavir, used for HIV treatment, to novel coronavirus patients at three hospitals in the jurisdiction, including Ditan Hospital.
There is still no drug proven to be effective in treating the novel coronavirus. Therefore, patients must fight and overcome the disease with their body's own healing ability. The fact that deaths from the novel coronavirus tend to be concentrated among elderly patients with underlying conditions is due to this reason.
