Democratic Party Proposes Sprinkler Installation in Kids Cafes and Establishment of Integrated Firefighting Helicopter Management System
Democratic Party Announces Public Safety Enhancement Measures as April 26 General Election Pledge
Establishment of Integrated Firefighting Helicopter System and Strengthening Fire Safety Measures for Multi-Use Facilities
No Additional Budget Required... Expected to Save 2.2 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] The Democratic Party of Korea has announced a national safety enhancement plan as part of its policy pledges for the 21st general election. The plan focuses on establishing an integrated management system for firefighting helicopters to create a nationwide rapid dispatch system and mandating the installation of simple sprinklers in places like kids cafes.
On the morning of the 26th, the Democratic Party's Policy Committee announced through its general election policy pledge presentation, "We will establish a national integrated management system for firefighting helicopters and strengthen safety management for multi-use facilities."
According to this pledge, the government will build an integrated management system to manage and operate firefighting helicopters nationwide. Until now, firefighting helicopters have been managed and operated separately by central and city/provincial authorities, causing disruptions in on-site dispatch and mutual support. It is analyzed that once an integrated operation control center is established, rapid mutual support and dispatch will become possible.
Firefighting helicopter management, which has been entrusted to each managing entity, will also be supported efficiently by establishing a national operation maintenance center. The Democratic Party has identified a total of 29 firefighting helicopters nationwide, of which 10 have been in use for over 20 years.
The party will also mandate the installation of simple sprinklers in lodging-type multi-use facilities and the installation of evacuation stairs in newly constructed buildings of four floors or less. New types of businesses such as "kids cafes" and "escape room cafes" will be designated as multi-use facilities through fire risk assessments.
According to the Democratic Party, no additional budget is required for the national integrated firefighting helicopter management center or the multi-use facility safety management project.

They also added, "The budget for sprinkler installation in multi-use facilities, amounting to 8.07 billion KRW, has already been reflected this year."
