"'Withdrawal Advised Unless Urgent'... China Hubei Province Travel Alert Raised"
New Coronavirus Spreads Throughout Hubei Province
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 25th that it will raise the travel advisory for the entire Hubei Province, including Wuhan City, China, to Level 3 'Evacuation Recommended.'
The travel advisory for Wuhan City has been raised from the previous Level 2 'Travel Caution' to Level 3, and the travel advisory for Hubei Province (excluding Wuhan City) has been raised from Level 1 'Travel Alert' to Level 3.
This adjustment is a measure in response to the spread of the novel coronavirus originating in Wuhan City throughout Hubei Province.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Public transportation in Wuhan City and surrounding areas is completely restricted, and there is a rapid spread trend as confirmed cases among our nationals have occurred domestically," adding, "The World Health Organization (WHO) also considers the novel coronavirus to have high transmissibility, so thorough preparation to prevent infection among our nationals is necessary."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged those staying in Hubei Province, China, to evacuate unless for urgent matters, and requested those planning to travel to the area to cancel or postpone their trips.
The travel advisory levels consist of four stages: Level 1 Travel Alert 'Blue Alert,' Level 2 Travel Caution 'Yellow Alert,' Level 3 Evacuation Recommended 'Red Alert,' and Level 4 Travel Ban 'Black Alert.'
