Gangdong-gu Expands Parking Zones Around Traditional Markets
Amsa General Market, Seongnae Traditional Market, and 7 Other Locations... Up to 2 Hours Parking Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will temporarily allow parking on roads around traditional markets until the 27th in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This is to provide parking convenience to residents using traditional markets and to revitalize the local commercial district.
The sections where temporary parking is allowed until the 27th, the Lunar New Year holiday, are roads around four locations: Gildong Golmok Market, Seongnae Traditional Market, Amsa General Market, and Rodeo Street Shopping District.
Parking is permitted from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and parking is allowed for up to 2 hours in the designated sections.
The target sections are Gildong Golmok Market (Cheongumdang~Baekje Pharmacy, Spring Bear Academy~Seonggwang Building), Seongnae Traditional Market (Smile Butcher Center~CU Convenience Store), Amsa General Market (Davichi Glasses~Jeongin Building), and Rodeo Street Shopping District (Jangwon Bossam~Nonghyup Gangdong Branch).
Additionally, three traditional markets?Amsa General Market (12 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Myeongil Traditional Market (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and Dunchon Station Traditional Market (1 p.m. to 8 p.m.)?operate permanent parking allowed zones.
The target sections are Amsa General Market (Suhyup Amsa-dong Branch~Myeongdong Glasses, Davichi Glasses~Yeonggeumdang), Myeongil Golmok Market (Sparks Myeongil Branch~Malgeunsaem Church), and Dunchon Station Traditional Market (Dunchon Station Exit 4~Jisen, Uplus Square~KEB Dunchon Station Branch).
Furthermore, Gangdong-gu plans to focus on guidance-based enforcement of illegal parking and stopping around other traditional markets such as Yangji Golmok Market, Gobundari Golmok Market, Cheonho New Market, Dongseoul Market, and Godeok Traditional Market during the holiday period. However, vehicles illegally parked or stopped in absolutely no-parking zones such as sidewalks, crosswalks, intersection corners, bus stops, fire safety facilities, and entrances/exits will be immediately enforced without any grace period.
In particular, even if the driver is present on-site, vehicles causing traffic obstruction due to double parking or similar will be subject to enforcement, so caution is required.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “Allowing parking on roads around traditional markets during the Lunar New Year holiday is expected to make shopping more convenient for residents. We hope many people will use traditional markets where they can park comfortably and prepare for the holiday economically.”
