View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] At around 3:52 PM on the 16th, a fire broke out in a first-floor laboratory at the Pohang Geological Resources Demonstration Research Center of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources in Heunghae-eup, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, damaging internal equipment.
The fire was extinguished by the dispatched fire brigade within about 20 minutes. Upon hearing the alarm, employees evacuated urgently, resulting in no casualties.
The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the cause of the fire through a joint inspection.
