Employment Permit Issuance System Down for 5 Hours... Migrant Workers Left Anxious
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] The computerized system for issuing employment permits at the Korea Employment Information Service was paralyzed for over five hours starting from 10:30 a.m. on the 16th but has since been restored, causing significant inconvenience to foreign workers.
This service allows foreign workers who need to report employment changes to access the Korea Employment Information Service's computer system, enter employment contract details such as their affiliated workplace, employer, and salary, receive an employment permit, and then proceed with immigration reporting.
Especially since the 16th was the deadline for reporting employment changes, migrant workers were anxious that the system failure might cause issues with their residency status.
