Hwang Kyo-ahn: "Appointment of Public Official Committee Chair Will Ensure No Disruptions in Integration Process" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Kim Hye-min] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, announced on the 16th that "Kim Hyung-o, former Speaker of the National Assembly, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Nomination Management Committee (Nomination Chairperson)." He criticized the government's indication of a housing sales permit system, saying, "The real estate policy is going off the rails."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly main building that day, Hwang said, "To ensure nominations together with the people, we received over 6,000 candidate recommendations for the Nomination Chairperson from the public, formed a Nomination Chairperson Recommendation Committee, and went through a thorough verification and opinion-gathering process."
He explained, "As you know, former Speaker Kim is a five-term lawmaker who has served as party secretary-general and floor leader, and served as Speaker of the 18th National Assembly's first half, leading the Assembly with principles and conviction without bias toward any faction. Currently, he is the president of the Baekbeom Kim Gu Memorial Project Association, carrying on Baekbeom's spirit of patriotism, justice, broad tolerance, and self-sacrifice."
Hwang said, "He is evaluated as a leader within our party who possesses an innovative and reformist mindset. Through today's appointment of the Nomination Chairperson, we will run toward the path of innovation that the people desire."
Regarding the sensitive reaction from the New Conservative Party, which is pursuing integration, about the selection of the Nomination Chairperson, he said, "We are currently in the process of unifying the conservative right, but we will proceed with consultations carefully to avoid any noise. The composition of the Nomination Committee may also be a subject of consultation later. We will establish standards and rules that all participants in the integration can judge as objective and fair nominations."
Regarding the 'housing sales permit system' mentioned by Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Kang Ki-jung, he criticized, "What kind of sudden, shocking statement is that? The Moon administration's real estate policy is going off the rails. It is now threatening the foundation of the market economy. Are they saying you need government permission to buy a house? This is exactly a socialist real estate policy."
Hwang emphasized, "It is none other than the Blue House that is openly pushing unconstitutional policies. What authority does the government have to interfere even with the people's freedom to trade housing? Following the economic judgment theory, the real estate judgment theory is also emerging. The people will judge severely."
He also criticized pro-government figures running in the general election. Hwang said, "It is said that Hwang Un-ha and Song Byung-gi are taking steps to run. The people are speechless at the sight of making the president's 30-year close friend the mayor of Ulsan and creating a parliamentary badge for him. Those in power who share joint responsibility for the Moon administration's failures and incompetence have rushed into a reckless general election race. Fifty-two current and former members of presidential committees are heading to the general election," he pointed out.
Floor Leader Shim Jae-chul also raised his voice against the government's real estate policy. He said, "The housing sales permit system is unacceptable in South Korea, which upholds a market economy," and criticized it as "an unconstitutional idea that infringes on private property rights and freedom of contract." Shim added, "This absurd idea is coming out because the failure of real estate policy is likely to become an issue in the general election. The Moon administration's real estate policy is represented by Kim Eui-gyeom's speculation. Even the president himself has a distorted view of real estate. Raising house prices and then loudly claiming to restore them to their original state is treating the people like fools," he pointed out.

Shim also criticized Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party, saying, "He will be recognized as a master of reckless behavior in Korean political history," and added, "He caused great harm by saying that a person with a congenital disability among the talents he recruited has a weak will. There is a flood of criticism asking if that is all the ruling party leader is capable of."
