According to the city, the marine waste transport ship will be used for multiple purposes including marine pollution prevention, waste transport, marine waste collection, transport of loess and dead shellfish during red tide occurrences, and collection and transport of household waste from island areas, with a project budget of 3 billion KRW confirmed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in January last year.
In particular, the newly constructed vessel will be used for transporting daily necessities for island residents in the Tongyeong area and collecting toilet sewage in FDA-designated waters.

A city official stated, "Alongside the fuel transport ship currently under construction, we will actively utilize it to support the living environment convenience of island residents, such as transporting daily necessities," adding, "We will carry out administration that finds small happiness for island residents."
