Korean Party Reports Ko Min-jung, Park Young-sun, and Yoon Gun-young to Prosecutors for Election Law Violations
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 15th, the Liberty Korea Party filed a large-scale complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors' Office against Ko Min-jung, spokesperson for the Blue House, Yoon Gun-young, former head of the Presidential Office's National Planning Situation Room, and Park Young-sun, Minister of SMEs and Startups, for violating election laws.
The Korea Party claimed, "Spokesperson Ko is subject to Article 85, Paragraph 2 of the Public Official Election Act, which prohibits public officials from using their position to conduct election campaigns. However, on the 8th, she conducted election campaigning by stating on KBS radio broadcast, 'The people will judge whether it is correct to punish the administration or the opposition party.'"
The Korea Party pointed out, "Spokesperson Ko used the term 'punish the opposition party,' indirectly expressing the intention that people should not vote for the opposition party objectively. According to precedents, this is considered 'election campaigning' as it is a statement from which the intention to cause the defeat of a specific party can be easily inferred."
Regarding former Director Yoon, they stated, "As a political official of the Blue House, he conducted election campaigning outside the election campaign period without registering as a preliminary candidate for the next general election."
According to the Korea Party, former Director Yoon attended a church service at a church located in Guro 3-dong on December 25 last year with Minister Park, where he was introduced to the attending believers by the senior pastor. After the service, through Minister Park's introduction, he was introduced to and greeted elders and believers who are voters. He then had lunch with Minister Park, who is ineligible to campaign, and Lee Sung, head of Guro District Office. Additionally, on January 1 this year, he attended a mass at a cathedral located in Guro 3-dong and had lunch with Minister Park and local voters.
In the case of Minister Park, it was revealed that she participated in former Director Yoon's election campaigning activities, accompanying him, bowing, shaking hands, greeting and introducing people, and taking several photos, clearly conducting election campaigning.
