Jangseong-gun Provides On-site Technical Support for Crop Management
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jangseong County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that it will provide on-site technical support for crop management due to abnormal winter temperatures.
According to the county, the average temperature over the past month (December 1, 2019 ~ January 8) recorded 2.9℃, which is 1.7℃ higher than the previous year and 1.9℃ higher than the average year.
Also, the cumulative precipitation was 79.5 mm, 49 mm higher than last year and 30.9 mm higher than the average year. If such abnormal temperatures persist, phenomena such as crop diseases, poor growth, and insufficient fruit set may occur.
Jangseong County expects damage to facility greenhouse crops such as tomatoes and strawberries, as well as winter crops like garlic and onions due to abnormal temperatures, and plans to frequently visit the sites to provide technical support.
They also plan to guide the application of appropriate pesticides and nutrients according to growth conditions to prevent and treat diseases and help restore crop vigor.
Furthermore, the county plans to actively respond to ensure early control if crop diseases occur.
Along with this, the county will also educate farmers to check the registration status of pesticides for each crop during pest control and to comply with proper concentrations and pre-harvest application intervals.
