FA Kim Sun-bin Re-signs with KIA Tigers... Up to 4 Years, 4 Billion Won
Sports Chosun Report
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Free agent (FA) Kim Seon-bin (31) has reportedly re-signed with his original team, the KIA Tigers.
On the 14th, Sports Chosun reported that Kim Seon-bin signed a contract on the 13th for a maximum of 4 years and 4 billion KRW offered by KIA.
According to Star News, KIA General Manager Jo Gye-hyeon stated, "It is true that we agreed on the contract terms with Seon-bin last night. However, the official signing is scheduled to take place today at the club office."
KIA entered negotiations with a strategy to retain both FA players An Chi-hong and Kim Seon-bin during this offseason. However, after An Chi-hong transferred to Lotte on a 2+2 opt-out contract on the 6th, KIA could not afford to lose Kim Seon-bin.
Accordingly, General Manager Jo personally took part in the negotiation table and is known to have led the talks with Kim Seon-bin.
Both sides exchanged positive signals during negotiations on the 7th, and later, General Manager Jo met with Kim Seon-bin’s side to present contract terms, leading to the agreement.
Although An Chi-hong left, KIA, with Kim Seon-bin remaining, will be able to minimize the loss of strength for the next season. This is because Kim Seon-bin’s versatility in defense is emphasized by newly appointed manager Matt Williams.
Kim Seon-bin joined KIA in 2008 and contributed to KIA’s two overall championships in 2009 and 2017.
