Gyeonggi-do Launches 3-Stage Special Crackdown on 'Environmental Pollution Acts' During Lunar New Year Holiday
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct special monitoring of environmental pollution activities during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Wide-area Environmental Management Office announced on the 14th that it will carry out 'special monitoring of environmental pollution activities' in three phases until the 31st in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Provincial Wide-area Environmental Management Office will deploy about 150 environmental inspection officers from 31 cities and counties across the province for this environmental crackdown. The inspection targets include about 800 pollutant-emitting businesses and basic environmental facilities within the province.
The key monitoring areas are ▲ water source systems, industrial and agro-industrial complexes and surrounding rivers ▲ businesses emitting large amounts of wastewater and fine dust in industrial complexes ▲ basic environmental facilities such as sewage, manure, livestock, wastewater treatment facilities, and landfill sites.
The Provincial Wide-area Environmental Management Office will especially use drones and other means to minimize blind spots in monitoring.
Previously, the office sent 'self-inspection cooperation letters' to about 4,200 pollutant-emitting businesses and public treatment facilities in the province.
