Why Implement the 'Clean School' Project Targeting 17 Elementary Schools in Geumcheon-gu?
Support of 130 Million KRW Cleaning Budget for 17 Public Elementary Schools to Ensure a Pleasant Educational Environment... Expansion Considered After 1-Year Project Monitoring and Performance Analysis
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is conducting a pilot operation of the 'Clean School' project targeting 17 elementary schools located in Geumcheon-gu to create a pleasant educational environment.
The 'Clean School' project supports schools struggling with cleaning due to a lack of personnel and budget.
So far, shared spaces such as restrooms, hallways, and special classrooms in each elementary school where children play and live have not been properly maintained due to a shortage of cleaning staff, and the need to improve the educational environment has been continuously raised at meetings between school principals and parents.
Accordingly, after actively reflecting the opinions of schools and seeking various support measures so that children can study in a clean environment, the district decided to provide a total of about 130 million KRW in cleaning personnel wages to 17 public elementary schools in the area from March this year using educational expense subsidies.
Through the review of educational expense subsidies, the district plans to support 800,000 KRW per school per month for cleaning costs until February, analyze the project's performance over one year, and decide whether to expand it.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Although school facility management is under the jurisdiction of the education office and schools, we initiated the Clean School project with the hope that children, the future dream trees, can live in a more pleasant environment," and added, "We will actively discover projects that the district can undertake to create a pleasant educational environment."
