Hwasun-gun to Begin Free Hepatitis A Vaccinations from the 14th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 13th that it will provide free hepatitis A vaccinations for high-risk adults starting from the 14th.
The target group includes high-risk hepatitis A individuals aged 20 to 49 (born between 1999 and 1970) who have not been vaccinated or have not developed immunity, and they will be supported with free vaccinations and antibody tests.
High-risk hepatitis A groups are those with hospitalization or outpatient treatment records under disease codes such as chronic viral infection or chronic infection of unknown details, and vaccinations can be administered at designated medical institutions and public health centers.
Designated medical institutions can be checked on the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Vaccination Helper website.
Considering the antibody formation rates by age group, those in their 20s and 30s can receive vaccinations starting from the 14th, while those aged 40 and above will undergo antibody testing from the 1st of next month and will be vaccinated only if antibody-negative.
Since high-risk groups such as chronic liver disease patients have a low immune response to the vaccine, pre-vaccination is necessary to prevent complications caused by hepatitis A.
