ASF Detected in 3 Wild Boars in the Civilian Control Zone of Hwacheon-gun, Gyeonggi... Total Cases Reach 72
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] African Swine Fever (ASF) virus was detected in three wild boar carcasses found within the civilian access control line in Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do.
The National Institute of Environmental Research under the Ministry of Environment announced on the 13th that ASF virus was detected in three wild boar carcasses found in Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do.
The carcasses were discovered on the 11th by the Ministry of Environment search team within the civilian control line in Pungsan-ri, Hwacheon-eup, along a tactical road, hillside, and forest area. All three confirmed cases were found in adjacent areas to positive cases discovered on the 8th and 10th.
Hwacheon-gun followed the standard action guidelines for African Swine Fever by collecting samples, disinfecting the site, and burying the carcasses.
On the 13th, the institute notified relevant agencies of the ASF virus confirmation results from the carcasses. This brings the total confirmed cases in Hwacheon-gun to five, and nationwide to 72.

Jung Won-hwa, head of the Biosafety Research Team at the National Institute of Environmental Research, stated, "All these carcasses were found inside the wide-area fence within the civilian control line. We are cooperating with the military to strengthen surrounding searches and plan to install fences as soon as possible."
