Kim Gun-mo Files Defamation Lawsuit Over '13-Year-Old Assault Allegation'... Police Investigation Expected This Week
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police have launched an investigation into the case where singer Kim Gun-mo filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who claimed she was assaulted by him.
According to the police on the 13th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received the case from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office last week and is currently investigating. The police are coordinating schedules for summons and questioning with both Kim's side and the complainant.
On the 6th, Kim filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office against the woman, identified as Ms. A, for defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. Kim Gun-mo's side is also reported to have submitted evidence related to Ms. A's claims.
Ms. A appeared on the YouTube channel "Garosero Research Institute," operated by lawyer Kang Yong-seok and others, last month, claiming that in January 2007, at a nightlife establishment, she was punched multiple times by Kim while arguing with Kim's partner.

Previously, Kim also filed a defamation and false accusation complaint with the Gangnam Police Station against another woman, Ms. B, who alleged sexual assault by him. The police are expected to summon Kim for questioning as early as this week.
