Jokyewon, Former Gyeonggi-do Policy Chief, to Hold Book Launch in Yeosu on 12th... Preparing for General Election
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Former Gyeonggi Province Policy Chief Jo Gye-won will hold a publication celebration at 2 p.m. on the 12th for his book "Jo Gye-won's Thoughts on Yeosu," which captures the life of a writer and his interactions with the citizens of Yeosu.
The publication celebration, held in the form of a book concert, is expected to be attended by Lee Hae-chan, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Moon Hee-sang, Speaker of the National Assembly, and Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province and political mentor to former Chief Jo Gye-won. Also attending are Seo Sam-seok, current chairman of the Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party Committee (Member of the National Assembly), Lee Gae-ho, Member of the National Assembly (former Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs), Kwon Oh-bong, Mayor of Yeosu, Jeong Chan-yong, former Chief of Personnel under the Participatory Government, Moon Guk-hyun, former leader of the Creative Korea Party, along with numerous members of the National Assembly, provincial councilors, city councilors, Yeosu organizations, and key figures from Gyeonggi Province affiliated institutions and government.
The first part will consist of congratulatory speeches from guests and brief reflections from the author. The second part will focus on the book’s content, with the host, invited guests, and the author openly discussing Yeosu’s past, present, and future.
Former Chief Jo Gye-won said, "My life began as the 'third son of Dongyang Machinery in Yeosu Gyodong,' and I have included stories of standing against dictatorship as the student council president at Sungkyunkwan University, and the successful Korea Basic Income Expo dreamed of with Governor Lee Jae-myung for a 'fair world,' all through conversations with Yeosu citizens in one book." He added, "'Making people truly human, and Yeosu truly Yeosu' is a dream I have reached after long contemplation. To fulfill that dream, I want to work together with our precious Yeosu citizens."
Former Chief Jo is known for sparking public discourse on Gyeonggi Province’s two major policies, 'basic income' and 'local currency,' and is expected to begin serious preparations for the April general election starting with this publication celebration.
