[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The 11th Korea-US Special Measures Agreement (SMA) meeting for defense cost-sharing will be held in Washington DC, USA, from the 14th to the 15th. This is the sixth meeting following the fifth meeting held over two days from December 17 last year in Seoul.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 10th, the Korean side will be led by Jeong Eun-bo, Korea-US defense cost-sharing negotiation ambassador, and the US side will be led by James DeHart, US Department of State defense cost-sharing negotiation representative (Senior Advisor for Political-Military Affairs), as chief representatives attending the meeting.
The Korean government plans to maintain its basic stance of sharing defense costs at a reasonable and fair level within the existing agreement framework, while closely consulting with the US side to promptly reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
