Geumcheon-gu's Representative Festival 'Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival' Resident Public Hearing Held
Held at Geumcheon-gu Office Auditorium at 6:30 PM on the 16th... Resident Forum on Festival Operation Direction, Festival Name, Schedule, Venue, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) and Geumcheon Cultural Foundation (CEO Lee Yong-jin) will hold a public hearing with residents at 6:30 PM on the 16th in the main auditorium of Geumcheon-gu Office to newly reorganize the Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival, Geumcheon-gu's representative festival in 2020.
The Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival has been held annually since 2005 as Geumcheon-gu's representative festival. Over the years, a festival promotion committee has been formed to discover various contents, and it has gradually grown through governance. Last year, it achieved the distinction of being selected as a preliminary brand festival by Seoul City.
However, limitations such as the timing of cherry blossom blooming, festival venue, festival name identity, and contents were exposed, leaving somewhat disappointing points in expert festival evaluations.
Through this public hearing, the district plans to seek various changes with residents to overcome the limitations of the Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival, secure the festival's scalability, and further accumulate brand value as Geumcheon-gu's representative festival.
This public hearing will be conducted as a large forum to collect residents' diverse opinions on the festival's operation direction, festival name, schedule, venue, and more. Under the direction of Director Jo Hyeong-je, who oversaw the 2019 Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival, the program will proceed in the order of △ sharing the current status of the Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival operation △ recruitment of the festival promotion team and guidance on the festival academy operation △ discussion to explore festival development directions △ and Q&A.
Two external festival experts and two governance committee members from 2018 to 2019 will participate as panelists. Any resident interested in Geumcheon-gu's representative festival can participate.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “To mark the 25th anniversary of Geumcheon-gu's establishment, we have prepared this public hearing based on residents' opinions to create a new page in the history of Geumcheon-gu's representative festival,” and added, “We hope many residents will participate and provide fresh and diverse opinions to make the Geumcheon Harmony Cherry Blossom Festival a nationwide brand festival beyond the local region.”
