'Panmunjom JSA Defector Soldier' Oh Cheong-seong Sent to Prosecution on Drunk Driving Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] It was recently revealed that Oh Cheong-seong (26), a North Korean soldier who defected through the Joint Security Area (JSA) in Panmunjom in 2017, was handed over to the prosecution on charges of drunk driving.
On the 9th, the Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul announced that they recently booked Oh on charges of drunk driving, investigated him, and then sent him to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
Oh, who defected south through the JSA on November 13, 2017, was shot by North Korean soldiers during the defection process but underwent surgery and recovered.
At the time of his defection, it was reported that he was heavily intoxicated, having shared about 10 bottles of North Korean soju with a friend in Kaesong.
