Dongjak-gu Secures 59.4 Billion KRW Through External Awards and Competition Selections in 2019
Secured 59.4 Billion KRW in External Funding in 2019 through Various Awards and Public Projects... Selected for Urban Regeneration New Deal, Traditional Market and Store Revitalization Support, and Living SOC Complex Projects
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) announced on the 9th that it secured approximately 59.4 billion KRW in project funds last year through external agency evaluations and public contest selections.
The district achieved unprecedented results by winning 59 public projects along with awards such as the Presidential Award for Excellence in Proposal Activation in 2019, the Grand Prize in the Excellent Childcare Policy Local Government Evaluation, and the Special Award at the Korea City Awards.
In particular, the 2019 public project budget increased by 37.2 billion KRW from the previous year to 57.3 billion KRW, and plans to actively implement projects including ▲ Urban Regeneration New Deal Project ▲ Support for Revitalization of Traditional Markets and Shopping Districts ▲ National Balanced Development Committee’s Life SOC Complex Project ▲ Big Data-based Digital Outdoor Advertising Pilot Project.
Additionally, in joint cooperation projects with Seoul City and autonomous districts, Dongjak-gu achieved the great feat of being selected as an award-winning district in all 12 fields, including ▲ Creating a Gender-Equal and Happy Seoul for Parents and Children (9 consecutive years) ▲ Establishing a People-Centered ‘Walking City, Seoul’ (8 consecutive years) ▲ Creating Seoul Hope Jobs (5 consecutive years) ▲ Building a Safe City (4 consecutive years).
In evaluations conducted by central government ministries, the district received awards in 34 fields including ▲ ‘S Grade’ (Minister’s Commendation) in the 2019 Autonomous Internal Control Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety ▲ 2019 Excellent Institution for National Safety Education ▲ 2019 Excellent Institution for Safety Korea Training, and also received an ‘A Grade’ in the 2019 Self-Audit Activity Assessment hosted by the Board of Audit and Inspection.
In private evaluations, Dongjak-gu was recognized for its efforts to fulfill the promises made to residents and implement the 7th local government’s pledges, including ▲ Winning the ‘Excellence Award’ in the Super-Aged Society Response category at the 10th National Basic Local Government Manifesto Best Practice Competition hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters ▲ Receiving the ‘Welfare District Mayor Award’ from the Seoul Social Workers Association in 2019.
