A 20-Year-Old Police Officer Arrested and Indicted for Raping a Female Colleague and Distributing Illegally Filmed Videos
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Heo Midam] A 20-year-old police officer has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a female colleague and filming and distributing the footage. The officer is reported to have secretly filmed the victim in her underwear and lied to colleagues, claiming they had sexual intercourse.
On the 8th, Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office announced that A (26), a police officer affiliated with the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency, was arrested and indicted on charges including violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes and defamation.
A is accused of forcibly subduing and sexually assaulting a fellow officer working at the same police station in August 2018.
He is also charged with defaming the victim by secretly filming her in her underwear with his mobile phone in June last year and showing the footage to other officers while falsely claiming, "I had sexual intercourse with the victim a few days ago."
When rumors spread that a sexual intercourse video was distributed in a group KakaoTalk chatroom, the police secured multiple testimonies related to the case and launched an investigation targeting Officer A.
The police conducted a search and seizure at A's residence and seized his mobile phone, laptop, and vehicle black box for analysis. However, just before the investigation, A replaced his mobile phone, and no evidence sufficient to prove the charges was obtained.
