LG Electronics to Establish Joint Venture with Luxoft in First Half of This Year... Mobility Collaboration
LG Electronics and global software company Luxoft signed an agreement to establish a joint venture on the 7th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA. [Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Electronics is establishing a joint venture (JV) with Luxoft, a global software (SW) company headquartered in Switzerland, for the next-generation automotive sector.
On the opening day of the world's largest home appliance and information technology (IT) exhibition, CES 2020, on the 7th (local time) in Las Vegas, USA, LG Electronics held a signing ceremony for the establishment of the joint venture.
The signing ceremony was attended by Park Il-pyung, President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG Electronics, and Dmitry Roschinine, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Luxoft.
The two companies plan to establish the joint venture in Santa Clara, California, USA, in the first half of this year. Based on LG Electronics' 'webOS Auto' platform, they plan to jointly develop in-vehicle multi-displays such as Digital Cockpit, Rear Seat Entertainment system (RSE), and systems and services for intelligent mobility. webOS Auto is a Linux-based in-vehicle infotainment platform that supports various solutions specialized for connected car services.
President Park Il-pyung said, "The establishment of the joint venture will be an opportunity to further strengthen the ecosystem of webOS Auto," and added, "Through the next-generation IVI (in-vehicle infotainment) platform, we will provide new customer value for future connected cars."
