'Parasite' Movie Receives Consecutive Nominations... Including BAFTA and PGA
The film "Parasite" has gained momentum in its nominations for film awards. On the 7th (local time) alone, it was named a finalist in two places: the British Academy and the Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards.
The British Academy is the UK version of the Academy Awards, which can be considered the world's largest film festival. Parasite joined in four categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Foreign Language Film, and Best Screenplay. The competitors for Best Picture include Sam Mendes' "1917," Martin Scorsese's "The Irishman," Todd Phillips' "Joker," and Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood." For Best Foreign Language Film, it competes against Lulu Wang's "The Farewell," Wad Al-Kateab and Edward Watts' "For Sama," Pedro Almod?var's "Pain and Glory," and C?line Sciamma's "Portrait of a Lady on Fire."
Director Bong Joon-ho was nominated for Best Director alongside Mendes for "1917," Scorsese for "The Irishman," Phillips for "Joker," and Tarantino for "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood." He was also nominated for Best Screenplay together with writer Han Jin-won. Other nominees include Susanna Fogel and three others for "Booksmart," Rian Johnson for "Knives Out," Noah Baumbach for "Marriage Story," and Tarantino for "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." The winners will be announced on the 2nd of next month.
The PGA Awards, held on the 9th of next month, are considered a precursor to predicting the outcome of the Academy Awards. In fact, over the past 30 years, twenty-one films that have won this award have also won Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Its official name is the "Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures."

Parasite was nominated with producer Kwak Sin-ae, CEO of E&A, and director Bong Joon-ho. It competes against nine films including "1917," "Ford v Ferrari," "The Irishman," "Jojo Rabbit," "Joker," "Knives Out," "Little Women," "Marriage Story," and "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood." The ceremony will be held on the 18th at the Hollywood Palladium.
