Gyeonggi-do Namhansanseong World Heritage Center, Public Purchase of Artifacts
[Asia Economy (Gwangju) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is set to publicly purchase artifacts from the World Heritage site Namhansanseong.
The Gyeonggi Namhansanseong World Heritage Center announced on the 8th that it will publicly purchase artifacts related to Namhansanseong to be exhibited at the 'Namhansanseong History and Culture Hall' (tentative name) from February 17 to March 13.
The Namhansanseong History and Culture Hall is scheduled for completion in 2022, and currently, the detailed design phase before construction is underway.
The artifacts targeted for purchase include ▲war weapons supporting the military landscape of Namhansanseong ▲various old documents and records related to the construction of Namhansanseong ▲materials concerning officials who passed through Namhansanseong ▲folk artifacts and daily life materials, encompassing all forms of artifacts that can reveal the World Heritage value of Namhansanseong.
However, illegally obtained artifacts such as looted or stolen items, or materials with unclear provenance, will not be purchased.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the artifact sale application form and artifact specification sheet and sending them by registered mail or email to the Gyeonggi Namhansanseong World Heritage Center.
The center will decide on the final purchase after a first round of document screening, a second round of physical artifact reception, and evaluation by the Artifact Evaluation Committee.
