[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Creator couple Yoomdaeng and Daedosogwan confessed their hidden family story.
On the 7th, MBC's 'Human Documentary People Are Good' aired a segment where creators Yoomdaeng and Daedosogwan shared a confession they had kept silent about for 10 years.
Before marrying Daedosogwan, Yoomdaeng revealed she had experienced one marriage and divorce and that she has a ten-year-old son.
During the broadcast, Yoomdaeng tearfully said, "Actually, I have a child, and the child is a boy. He is in elementary school. Until now, I couldn't reveal this on the broadcast."
She continued, "I lived alone in Seoul and was only doing broadcasting at that time. I was playing the role of the breadwinner and didn't really think about dating. After living alone in Seoul for a long time, I felt lonely and met someone. Then I found out I was pregnant. Since I gave birth, I had to take responsibility, and because there were many people I had to be responsible to, I couldn't talk about it."
Yoomdaeng also confessed the difficult times when she had to continue broadcasting activities during pregnancy and after childbirth to make a living. She entrusted her child to her mother for care and said, "My friends had birthday parties, but since I didn't reveal that I had a child, I couldn't go and celebrate with them. I couldn't share everyday things. Now, I want to comfortably share those everyday moments."
Yoomdaeng expressed her regret for not being able to spend daily life with her child. Addressing her son, who calls Yoomdaeng and Daedosogwan aunt and uncle outside, she said, "From now on, instead of mixing aunt and mom, how about just calling me mom? You can always just say mom now. Let's have a really fun birthday party."
Daedosogwan explained, "At first, my wife strongly rejected me. She talked about having kidney problems and said she might not be able to have children. But she said the real reason for refusing marriage was that she was divorced and had a child. Of course, I was scared at first, but I liked her so much that I thought I could overcome it."
He added, "Until then, I had never dated anyone. My wife is my first love. She is the first person I dated and married. I was rejected for various reasons," revealing the many ups and downs before becoming a couple.
Yoomdaeng said, "At that time, my kidneys were in a somewhat poor condition and I was managing it. I just wanted to work hard, earn money to pay for my hospital bills, and live an ordinary life with my family. But I think he was the first man who sincerely approached me," expressing gratitude toward Daedosogwan.
The broadcast also showed Yoomdaeng managing a low-sodium diet due to an incurable illness. She said it has been about four years since her kidney transplant and that she went under the knife without even having a wedding ceremony.
In response, Daedosogwan said, "Marrying her was the best and greatest choice. There might be better people, but I don't think there is anyone with this kind of personality. She is so lovely and wonderful."
Yoomdaeng also expressed affection, saying, "I feel there aren't many men like my husband. Someone so pure, kind, without malice, and who loves me as I am?I don't think there will ever be another."
Yoomdaeng had previously received malicious comments because her face appeared swollen due to steroid side effects. She recalled, "People's views on me were like, 'Why does her face look like that?' Since I was on broadcasts, people I hadn't seen in a while left bad comments about my appearance. Still, I had to keep working, so I cried after the broadcasts. That was the first time I hated doing broadcasts so much."
Daedosogwan promised, "From now on, you can look forward to Na Dong-hyun as a good father and husband, and Daedosogwan creating fun, cheerful, and positive content." He added to his son, "Son, you call me uncle now, but soon I will be your dad. For now, I'll be a great friend and play with you. But someday, I'll do my best to become a wonderful person so you can recognize me as your dad."
