Kim Seong-won, spokesperson for the Liberty Korea Party, stated on the 7th, "The president once again habitually spoke of 'peace' and mentioned 'Kim Jong-un's return visit' in his New Year's address."
Spokesperson Kim pointed out, "As military tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalate, the entire world is shaken. Eventually, Iran declared its withdrawal from the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, causing global concern. However, while everyone is holding their breath and being cautious amid the spread of nuclear threats and terrorism, only North Korea is making noise."
Regarding Chairman Kim Jong-un's indication of a tough response, he said, "Although North Korea, which is face-to-face, should be closely monitored to prevent misjudgment of the serious reality, yesterday the NSC (National Security Council) was held as usual without the president." He criticized, "Given that the intelligence authorities recently reported to the National Assembly their own judgment that 'North Korea's abandonment of nuclear development is impossible,' how can one talk about 'inter-Korean cooperation' without mentioning denuclearization even once?"

Spokesperson Kim further stated, "To make matters worse, Moon Jung-in, the Special Advisor on Unification, Diplomacy, and Security, blamed the U.S., not North Korea, for the stalled North Korea-U.S. negotiations." He added, "This is a foolishness stubbornly insisting on what should not be done, a vain belief, truly fitting the saying sujudaeto (守株待兎, waiting idly for a rabbit by a tree stump)."
