MFDS Cracks Down on Foreign Food Stores Selling 'Illegally Imported' Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 7th that it has identified 31 businesses selling foreign food products illegally imported without import declaration.
From October 16 to December 24 of last year, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety conducted inspections on 1,561 establishments specializing in foreign food sales, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Quarantine Headquarters), the National Police Agency, and local governments.
The main violations included ▲ sale of undeclared (unlabeled) food products such as snacks (14 places) ▲ sale of expired products (17 places). It was added that no violations related to illegal sales of pork processed products (such as sausages) were detected.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, "We will continue to focus on managing habitual and intentional violators selling undeclared food products without going through the official import declaration procedures."
