Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Hosts Korean Society for Biomolecular Science Conference
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (President Kim Ki-seon) announced on the 7th that it will hold the ‘2020 Korean Federation of Biomolecular Science Societies Conference (Organizing Chairman Park Cheol-seung, Professor of Life Sciences at GIST)’ from the 9th to the 11th.
The Korean Federation of Biomolecular Science Societies Conference is an academic conference jointly hosted by five domestic molecular life science societies (The Korean Chemical Society’s Division of Biochemistry, The Korean Crystallographic Society, The Korean Society for Structural Biology, The Korean Protein Society, and The Korean Biophysical Society). This year, it is hosted by The Korean Biophysical Society.
Keynote speakers include Professor Oh Byung-ha of KAIST, Professor Genji Kurisu of Osaka University, and Professor Jang Young-tae of POSTECH, with a total of 46 academic lectures to be presented through 10 symposiums.
Additionally, over 80 academic posters will be presented during the event, and new technologies for biomolecular research will be introduced through luncheon seminars, along with an exhibition of research equipment from companies related to biomolecular science.
On the first day of the conference, the 9th, following the opening remarks by Organizing Chairman Park Cheol-seung, who is also the president of The Korean Biophysical Society and a professor at GIST, Professor Oh Byung-ha of KAIST will deliver a keynote lecture titled ‘Design and Application of Proteins Using Computers.’ Subsequently, four symposiums will be held.
On the 10th, Professor Genji Kurisu of Osaka University will give a keynote lecture on ‘Structural Understanding of Electron Transfer Mechanisms in Photosynthesis,’ and Professor Jang Young-tae of POSTECH will deliver a keynote lecture on ‘Development of Fluorescent Probes to Distinguish Cell Types.’
The conference will conclude with six symposiums and closing remarks by Professor Na Myung-soo of UNIST, president of The Korean Crystallographic Society, which will host the next federation conference.
