Gwangju Nam-gu "Please Do Not Throw Away School Uniforms, Donate Them"
On the 26th of next month, 'School Uniform Sharing Day' to Sell at Affordable Prices
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 6th that it is conducting a school uniform collection campaign to reduce the burden of purchasing uniforms for new middle and high school students and their parents entering schools in the district in the new year of the Year of the Rat, and to promote resource recycling.
If there are uniforms stored at home that are no longer used after graduation, or uniforms among current students that are too large or too small for their bodies and therefore not worn, they can be donated at the nearby Dong Administrative Welfare Center or the Education Support Division on the 7th floor of Nam-gu Office.
Uniforms that are severely damaged and cannot be recycled are excluded from collection, and the uniform collection will continue until the 14th of next month.
The collected shirts, pants, skirts, jackets, etc. will be washed and sold at a low price to new middle and high school students entering schools in the district at the ‘2020 School Uniform Sharing Day’ event held on the 26th of next month, and all proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Nam-gu Scholarship Foundation.
In addition, Nam-gu plans to establish a Uniform Sharing Center behind Bigsupo in Jinwol-dong by March to promote sharing through passing down uniforms, and to use it as a place to share uniforms for middle and high schools in the district through year-round permanent operation.
