Gwangju Dong-gu National Sports Center to 'Reopen' on the 6th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 5th that it will complete the expansion construction of the Dong-gu National Sports Center and reopen it from the 6th.
Since the second half of last year, Dong-gu has invested a budget of 2.47 billion KRW from national and city funds to carry out the expansion construction of the sports center.
The fourth floor, which could not be built due to a lack of project funds at the time of the initial opening in 2011, was added, creating a multipurpose gymnasium where various sports activities such as badminton, basketball, table tennis, and kendo are possible, along with cultural classrooms, restrooms, and shower rooms.
The existing third floor was remodeled to expand the fitness center and shower rooms, and convenience facilities for residents were greatly expanded, including the installation of personal lockers and granite chairs in the swimming pool sauna room.
In addition, the usage environment was significantly improved through the purchase of the latest fitness equipment, installation of an air heat pump, establishment of a high-efficiency boiler and inverter pump, and renovation of aging facilities.
