Jungnang-gu Holds 2020 New Year's Greetings Meeting for the Year of the Rat
From the 8th to the 18th, a time of communication with residents of all 16 neighborhoods in Jungnang-gu... Sharing New Year's greetings along with the achievements of the 7th local government in 2019 and the vision for 2020, collecting residents' opinions on district administration
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the ‘2020 Dong New Year Greeting Meeting’ from the 8th to the 18th, visiting 16 neighborhoods to gather residents’ opinions on the development plans for the new year’s district administration.
Welcoming the Year of the Rat, this Dong New Year Greeting Meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to exchange New Year greetings and for Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi to personally explain the achievements of the 7th elected administration and the vision for 2020, thereby enhancing residents’ understanding and trust in the district administration.
In particular, this year’s meeting focuses on active resident participation rather than simply reporting on district affairs. An interview video titled ‘Our Neighborhood Has Changed!’ featuring residents speaking directly will be screened, and the event will be hosted by a master of ceremonies selected from among staff and residents to make the event enjoyable for everyone.
During the ‘Residents’ New Year Blessings and Suggestions’ session, residents will share their hopes for Jungnang-gu in 2020 and their New Year wishes. The mayor will personally respond to residents’ proposals and engage in discussions.
Under the theme ‘2020 Our Neighborhood Residents’ Commitment to Practice,’ each neighborhood will propose and decide on projects to be jointly practiced by residents throughout the year. Residents will directly set and share practical tasks, such as transforming illegal dumping areas into village flower beds, pledging to take ownership and contribute to local development through self-driven actions.
Additionally, side events will include an exhibition of residents’ activity photos from 2019 and a session where residents write down their New Year wishes to share stories with neighbors.
Results of the handling of suggestions from last year’s New Year Greeting Meeting will also be exhibited to inform residents how their opinions have been practically addressed and reflected. Through writing wish postcards, diverse resident opinions will be actively incorporated into district administration.
Various pre-performances such as belly dance and taekwondo will be showcased to create a New Year greeting event that residents can enjoy together. Especially, the New Year Greeting Meeting held on the 18th in Sangbong 2-dong will be conducted at the Jungnang Sangbong Library on the 3rd floor of the complex building instead of the usual meeting room, allowing free participation of children and parents. A family play performance is also prepared to encourage weekend family participation.
