[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Sung-yeol] A man in his 20s who lured a man in his 40s under the pretense of a direct transaction on an online secondhand trading site, murdered him, and stole 100 don of gold has been arrested by the police.
The Chungnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 3rd that they arrested A (25) at a lodging facility in Gyeonggi Province on suspicion of robbery and murder and applied for an arrest warrant.
According to the police, A is accused of repeatedly striking B (44), whom he met for a direct transaction, on the head with a blunt weapon around 10:20 p.m. on the 27th of last month on a road in Gyeryong-si, Chungnam, then stealing 100 don of gold that B had brought and B’s passenger car.
B suffered a skull fracture and died the next day while receiving treatment at the hospital.
On the day of the incident, A, who covered his face with a hat and mask, disappeared into a CCTV blind spot driving the stolen vehicle, making it difficult to even find witnesses.
The police secured a statement that B told people around him before losing consciousness, "The person who said they wanted to buy gold committed the crime," and confirmed that B had posted on an online secondhand trading site.
Based on this, the police conducted an investigation and announced that they arrested A, who was at a lodging facility in Gyeonggi Province on the 31st of last month, and also recovered the 100 don of gold.
