A Man in His 30s Who Created and Used Counterfeit Bills Printed on Only One Side
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Suwan] A man in his 30s who used counterfeit bills printed on only one side was caught by the police.
On the 3rd, the Hamyang Police Station in Gyeongnam announced that they had booked A (34) without detention on charges of currency counterfeiting and fraud, and sent him to the prosecution last month with a recommendation for indictment.
A used a 50,000 won counterfeit bill when paying a taxi fare in Hamyang, Gyeongnam, around midnight on November 16 last year.
The taxi driver noticed that the counterfeit bill was blank on one side, but A quickly got off saying "I don't need change," so the driver could not chase him.
However, the taxi driver later reported to the police, judging that there could be further damage.
The police identified A as a suspect through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) and arrested him on the 22nd of that month.
About 100 counterfeit bills were found at A's house, including 38 10,000 won bills printed on only one side, 72 US $100 bills, and 7 cashier's checks.
