Construction to Begin This Year on Four Roads Including Incheon Yongyu·Muui Island, Hanagae Entrance to Gwangmyeong Port
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The road network will be significantly expanded to improve accessibility to Yongyu and Muui Islands, representative tourist destinations in Incheon.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 2nd that it will start construction on four roads in the Yongyu and Muui areas this year with a budget of 46.2 billion KRW.
On Muui Island, three routes will be opened: Hanagae Entrance to Gwangmyeong Port (1.45 km), Hanagae Entrance to Hanagae Beach (1 km), and Keunmuri Pier to Keunmuri Village (0.67 km). On Yongyu Island, a new road will be built on the section from Gonghangseo-ro to Nambukdong (1.9 km).
These roads are scheduled to be completed and opened sequentially from next year through 2022.
Since 2014, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has been investing a total of 275.8 billion KRW in the Yongyu and Muui areas to promote 18 community-based social infrastructure expansion projects, including roads, parking lots, and sewage treatment facilities, through 2022.

An official from the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority stated, "In the Yongyu and Muui areas, the narrow road widths have caused significant inconvenience to residents and tourists. Once the roads are opened, accessibility and living conditions will greatly improve, making these areas one of the top tourist and recreational destinations in the metropolitan area and greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
