New Year's Bell-Ringing Ceremony in Busan
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jonghyo] At midnight on the 1st, a bell-ringing ceremony to welcome the New Year was held at Yongdusan Park in Busan.
To bid farewell to the eventful Year of the Pig (Gihai Year) and welcome the Year of the Rat (Gyeongja Year), citizens visited Yongdusan Park starting from the afternoon of the 31st of last month.
The citizen bell-ringing event was held with various activities including a year-end music festival, wish balloon release, a large moon photo zone, and the Busan Tower media facade, all encouraging citizen participation.
The bell-ringing ceremony was attended by 19 Busan citizens, Busan Mayor Oh Keo-don, the Chairperson of the City Council, the Superintendent of Education, the Police Chief, and others, totaling 24 people.
Among the general bell ringers were popular BJ YangPang, who served as Busan City Festival Ambassador for a year; Kim Jaegyu, a victim of the Burim Incident; Kim Gimin, CEO of Seowon Distribution, selected as an outstanding taxpayer; Viraiphon Anphong, a model multicultural family member from Laos; firefighter Jo Baegun, who extinguished the fire in the Gulam Tunnel; and station staff Seok Juhwan, who rescued passengers.
