Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Euisun is drawing attention for his intensive global management activities at the start of the new year, traveling across three countries-China, the United States, and India-over a span of ten days, making every second count.
According to Hyundai Motor Group on January 14, Chairman Chung visited Beijing, China, on January 4 and 5, accompanying the President's state visit to China. This marked his first visit to China in eight months since attending the Shanghai Motor Show in May last year.
Visited Beijing on January 4-5, Discussed Collaboration with CATL Chairman and Others
At the Korea-China Business Forum, held in conjunction with the President's visit to China, Chairman Chung met with Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL, the world's largest battery company; Hou Qijun, Chairman of Chinese energy company Sinopec; and Zhang Naiwen, Chairman of Yueda Group, Kia's joint venture partner in China. They discussed comprehensive collaboration in areas such as mobility, hydrogen, batteries, and technology.

원본보기 아이콘Immediately after his visit to China, on January 6 and 7, Chairman Chung attended CES 2026, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition, held in Las Vegas, United States. After exploring future technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, he held meetings with key executives from major big tech companies. Notably, he had a public reunion with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, just three months after their widely discussed meeting last year. Hyundai Motor Group also held its 'Global Leaders Forum (GLF)' on site, where top executives gathered to discuss mid- to long-term strategies and visions.

Chairman Chung then traveled to India, where he personally inspected three Hyundai Motor Group plants across the country. Hyundai Motor Group's strategy in India, home to the world's largest population of 1.4 billion, is to establish an annual production capacity of 1.5 million units, implement a flexible product lineup tailored to the market, and foster an electrification ecosystem to solidify its position as a key player in the region.
On January 12, during his visit to the Hyundai Motor Chennai plant in southeastern India, Chairman Chung received a business report from Hyundai Motor, toured the Creta production line, and visited the Hyundai Mobis BSA plant. He stated, "Hyundai Motor has been able to grow thanks to the love and support of the Indian people over the past 30 years," emphasizing, "We must pursue a home brand strategy that looks ahead to the next 30 years so that we can be reborn as a true Indian national company."

On the same day, Chairman Chung also visited Kia's Anantapur plant in central India to review Kia's production and sales strategies. He remarked, "Now in its eighth year in India, Kia has significant growth potential and opportunities ahead. We must set ambitious goals and strive to become the best in brand, product appeal, and quality for Indian customers." He added, "We should not fear failure; even if we fail, we must recover quickly, and once a goal is set, we must leverage our agile DNA to achieve solid growth and build a strong brand."
On the following day, January 13, at the Hyundai Motor Pune plant in western India, Chairman Chung focused on inspecting the production quality of the new Venue and highlighted the significance and role of the Pune plant, which has been reborn as a strategic production base for Hyundai Motor, in contributing to the local economy in India.
