Comedian Jang Dongmin has commercialized a patented idea inspired by everyday inconveniences, collaborating with companies to bring the technology to market. On the 7th, Blue Sky, an eco-friendly startup led by Jang Dongmin, announced that it recently signed a three-way memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kwangdong Pharmaceutical and Samyang Packaging for the development and production of PET bottle labels. The core of this agreement is Blue Sky’s patented technology: the "vertical one-touch label separation" method.

Jang Dongmin stated, "The vertical label separation technology is a practical alternative that can contribute to solving global environmental issues," and added, "We will devote all efforts to developing technology that allows consumers to easily participate in recycling." This method replaces the traditional horizontal label on PET bottles with a vertical one, allowing the label to automatically detach when the bottle cap is twisted. It is designed to reduce the hassle of peeling off the label separately, making it easier for consumers to participate in proper recycling. Through this agreement, Blue Sky will provide the original patented technology, Kwangdong Pharmaceutical will handle commercialization, and Samyang Packaging will be responsible for productivity review and productization. A representative from Kwangdong Pharmaceutical stated, "We will provide multifaceted support to ensure the technology is realized in actual products."

Jang Dongmin invented this technology in 2021 and completed the patent registration in 2022. Based on this, he founded the startup 'Blue Sky' in 2023, and in the same year, received the Excellence Award (Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute President's Award) at the 'Environmental Startup Competition' hosted by the Ministry of Environment, earning recognition for both technical achievement and public value.

Previously known as a "brain" in the entertainment industry, Jang Dongmin has shown impressive performances on shows such as "The Genius" and "Game of Blood." He also won the Asia Poker Tour held in Taiwan in 2024. Recently, he demonstrated this technology on the show "Radio Star." When asked, "What made you suddenly invent this product?" he replied, "These days, we're told to remove the label before throwing away bottles, but it's a hassle to peel them off one by one. When throwing away drinks outside the house, people often just toss them without separating the label. That's when the idea came to me."
