"Working just two hours a day doesn't interfere with my main job."
Lee Eina (30, alias), who runs a workshop in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, worked as a Daiso stock assistant for three months starting in September last year. She worked six days a week, except Sundays, for only two hours each day from 6:50 a.m. Lee said, "Since my workshop operates from noon until late at night, I can't take on a typical side job," and added, "The advantage of being a Daiso stock assistant is that I can do it without interfering with my main job. After trying it, I found it satisfying because it helped me build physical strength and cover living expenses." She is currently taking a break from her side job after injuring her arm while teaching a class at her workshop.
Daiso Expands Into Side Jobs
Work just two hours a day... less time pressure
The main duties of a Daiso stock assistant are moving and organizing delivered goods. Specifically, when the delivery truck arrives, they are responsible for ▲ unloading goods ▲ sorting and organizing items ▲ disposing of empty boxes ▲ and final cleaning. They usually work six days a week, and the hourly wage varies by location. It can range from the minimum wage (10,030 won) to as much as 16,000 won per hour. This means you can earn over 500,000 won per month for working just two hours a day. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the hourly wage, allowing for additional income.
The reason why the stock assistant job is popular as a side gig is because of the short working hours and guaranteed steady income. While other popular side jobs like working at a Coupang logistics center also offer short-term work, the standard is eight hours per day, which can be a heavy time commitment.
The advantage of Daiso stock assistant jobs, where you can earn a regular income in a short period, makes it an attractive option for people like Lee who already have a main job. In fact, a search for 'Daiso stock assistant' on the job platform Albamon brings up around 150 listings, with many stores specifically welcoming applicants looking for a second job. A store in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, stated in its job posting, "The job involves unloading product boxes and simple sorting," and added, "With just two hours of work per day, it's ideal for those seeking a second job." They also noted, "College students, job seekers, and office workers can find this a highly satisfying way to earn extra spending money."

However, not all reviews are positive. Due to the nature of the job, moving and organizing goods can be physically demanding. Lee said, "The reason I can't easily recommend the stock assistant job to people around me is because the intensity of the work is subjective," and added, "Some people quit quickly after realizing the job is harder than they expected, even though it's only two hours." She continued, "You need to consider whether you have enough physical strength, whether you can handle it alongside your main job, and whether you can work six days a week without missing a day."
Another popular Daiso side job is packaging work through subcontractors. Packaging can be done from home, making it easy to adjust to your personal schedule. For this reason, it is a favored side job among self-employed people and students. The main tasks are packing products and attaching labels. Although the work is simple, it is repetitive and the workload can vary depending on order volume, so meticulousness, concentration, and a sense of responsibility are required.
