1 Year in China, 3 Years in Busan... Dongseo University Launches Musical Theater Program with Central Academy of Drama
Operation of the “1+3 Academic System”
Expanding Cultural and Artistic Exchange Through Short Film Production
Dongseo University (President Jang Je Guk) is joining hands with China’s most prestigious performing arts university to nurture musical theater talent.
Dongseo University announced on May 8 that it has signed an agreement in Beijing, China with the Central Academy of Drama to establish a joint musical theater major program. The signing ceremony was attended by President Jang Je Guk and President Xu Yongsheng of the Central Academy of Drama, along with other representatives from both institutions.
This program will operate under a “1+3 academic system.” Selected students will complete one year of liberal arts and foundational major studies at the Central Academy of Drama, and then spend the subsequent three years at Dongseo University for advanced major training.
The two universities will also broaden the scope of their exchange, focusing on musical theater education. They plan to run a student exchange program and collaborate on cultural and artistic projects such as co-producing short films between Korea and China.
Through this agreement, Dongseo University aims to attract outstanding international students and further strengthen its global competitiveness in performing arts education.
Jang Je Guk, President of Dongseo University, stated, “We have established a platform for outstanding Chinese students to receive specialized training at Dongseo University and advance onto the global stage,” adding, “We will continue to expand our cooperation into diverse fields such as film and acting.”
