An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 occurred off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, at around 8:22 p.m. on May 15.

View original imageAccording to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the depth of the epicenter was estimated to be 50 kilometers.
As a result of this earthquake, tremors equivalent to a lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale were observed in Tome City and Osaki City in Miyagi Prefecture. An intensity of lower 5 is strong enough for most people to feel fear, and items such as dishes or books on shelves may fall.
Tremors measuring level 2 on the seismic intensity scale were also detected in Tokyo.
