"Quad Foreign Ministers to Meet in New Delhi, India, Later This Month"
Cooperation on Critical Minerals Expected to Be Reaffirmed
Kyodo News reported on May 10, 2026, that the Quad, a security consultative group comprising the United States, Japan, Australia, and India, is coordinating details to hold a foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, India, in late May.
According to Kyodo News, at this upcoming meeting, the four countries’ ministers are expected to reaffirm cooperation in critical minerals and other areas, with China in mind. This Quad foreign ministers’ meeting will be held for the first time in about ten months since the meeting in Washington, D.C. in July of last year, and it will be the third such meeting since the launch of the second Trump Administration. In particular, the venue for this meeting was changed from Australia, as previously agreed, to India. This is reportedly intended as a gesture of consolation for the postponement of the Quad summit that had been scheduled in India last year.
