As the importance of safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasing in the public sector following the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence Basic Act in January, Korea Technology Finance Corporation is proactively establishing an AI ethics practice system and working to spread a trust-based AI utilization culture to small and venture businesses.
As a specialized technology finance institution under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Korea Technology Finance Corporation supports technological innovation and growth for small and venture businesses, and has been expanding the use of AI across its overall work, including technology evaluation, guarantees, and corporate support. In particular, since 2024, the corporation has established and operated its own AI ethics standards and has continuously strengthened its internal management system to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the utilization process.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will jointly promote ▲AI ethics education and consulting support for small and venture businesses ▲publicity and awareness-raising activities to spread AI ethics ▲discovery of exemplary public AX cooperation cases ▲compliance with AI ethics guidelines and establishment of AI adoption processes ▲AI ethics training for executives and employees.
In particular, Korea Technology Finance Corporation plans to systematically manage key risk factors that may arise during AI utilization—such as bias, personal information protection, explainability, and accountability—by leveraging NIA's expertise in AI ethics policy and education, thereby further strengthening its internal foundation for AI ethics compliance. Through these efforts, the corporation aims to become a model case for public sector AX as an "AI Ethics Compliance Institution."
In addition, by utilizing its support network for small and venture businesses, the corporation plans to spread AI ethics education and consulting in the field, so that companies can adopt and utilize AI more safely and responsibly.
